Blender-Poser Art, Travel

Too Busy To Write… is no excuse

It’s been almost a year since my last post. Fortunately, no one appears to be following this weird little site, so I guess I’m good. I recently renewed my subscription / website and was appalled by the clever ways they try to get you to buy stuff. Oh well, they have to make a quid, I suppose.

— Poser … no more upgrades. My last version will be Poser 11.

— Blender … still doing a little, the scene in the header:

…is a project I’ve been tweaking lighting and creating trees for, using an addon for Blender by The Grove.

But I only open Blender infrequently, now.

— Video … I recently invested in a MacBook (vintage 2012) Pro, primarily to test my Blender addon, but since then I’ve been doing a very slow, laborious edit of some Hawaii footage from years ago, on Final Cut Pro 10.3. Happy to say that the Mac and FCPX are going to be able to travel with me for on-the-go edits. FCPX will be my last NLE for quite a while. Neither Lightworks nor Blender (nor any of the others I’ve tried) can hold a candle to FCPX: it is simply astonishingly good! Yes, of course, a wee learning curve… okay, a LOT of learning curve, but there’s heaps of help out there. I’ve canceled my subscription to LWKS (I got FCPX during a promotion on Amazon, so the software cost me about what a year’s subscription would!) and haven’t used the NLE in Blender since.

Saying that (about getting a Mac), we’re still very much a Linux household. And always will be, I think.
